MFR Model# CI-158C

Overview

Frequency • 108-118 MHz (VOR/LOC)
329-335 MHz (GS)

“V” Dipole VOR/LOC/GS antenna with detachable elements mounts on top of the vertical fin stabilizer for most single engine general aviation aircraft. RF design similar to the CI 157P. Integral ferrite balun provides for higher radiation efficiency. Detachable elements result in a significantly smaller shipping and storage carton than fixed element versions.

Note: Comant Antennas no longer come with a gasket or a template. Must order PN 09-05579 separately.

Not approved for helicopter installations.

Applications
Single engine piston aircraft for applications of this antenna design. Consult your FBO or installation shop for best application information.

Q: On the Comant CI-158C can the two detachable whips be mounted separately in aircraft fuselage?

No, this antenna must remain as one piece and cannot be separated for use. Detachable elements result only for smaller shipping and storage carton than fixed element versions.

Q: I see the whisker vor/loc/gs mounted on the bottom of the fuselage on RV aircraft. Does it matter if the BNC connector is on the top or bottom?

The BNC connector can be on either side.

Q: How do the whips detach? Do they screw in? If so, is this a standard fitting common to other antennas of this type? Thanks.

No, they do not screw in. The whips attach with a self-locking set screw.

Q: How long are the whips on the Comant CI-158C?

17-5/8 each.
