Overview

In 1985 AC discontinued production of the popular “RT” series of mechanical tachometers. Mitchell immediately entered the market to fill the void. These tachs feature exceptional accuracy and reliability. Mitchell tachs come with a factory-direct 2 year warranty. The range on all models is 500 to 3500 RPM. Accuracy is +/- 25 RPM from 1000 to 3000 RPM. Determine the correct part number from the chart below. All Mitchell tachs are FAA approved to TSO-C49b for certified aircraft.

2-1/4" tachs are direct replacements for the 3-1/8" tachs to save panel space.

$45.00 for custom range marks (specify ranges, 14 day lead time).
$18.75 to set hours (specify hours, 14 day lead time).

Direction of rotation is defined as when viewing the front of the tachometer.

Always good service from Aircraft Spruce, Thanks.

I purchased this unit to replace an older 1950’s tach. On the first flight the glass face cracked! The unit was returned to AS, two months later and still waiting for news as to what Mitchell are going to do about my tachometer. No refund, no parts exchange and no information from Aircraft Spruce as to what is happening, despite several phone calls. If and when this unit is ever returned, I may adjust my rating, but for now the whole process deserves less than a 1 star rating

Worked perfectly within 25 rpm accuracy... for less than 10 hours.

Works great, easy install. Consider buying some new mounting nuts to make install even easier.

A perfect fit. Suggest you list the Instrument nuts that would fit this instrument on the same page as a accessory to consider when ordering.

I installed one of these in a PiperArcher, where the tach is positioned to the left of the power quadrant and below line of sight. Custom green & red markings were done. The tach is very accurate on engine speed, but I have two serious complaints. First, the hours numbers are deep behind the window on the face of the instrument, making them difficult to read, and the rollers do not align with the windows vertically, making them nearly impossible to read. Second, even though we purchased the model recommended for the PA28-181, the clock is running much faster than our actual flight times, and surprisingly faster than the hobbs meter - sometimes up to 15-20% faster. Not happy with this one.

I ordered mine on a Friday, custom markings and I wanted a specific time set. I drained my oil, started working on some other projects on the plane. It arrived Tuesday, 5 days later, with two of those days being a weekend! Looks good, set properly, great turn around time!

Q: What is the difference between Mitchell Tachometer D1-112-5025 and 5026?

Per the supplier: they are the same, there is no difference.

Q: Mitchell Tack # D1-112-5024, p/n 10-24644: Does it come with green band markings to 2700 rpm and hobbs hour read out?

These are available as options: silk range markings use part 10-02354, taped range markings use part number 10-02355, pre-set hours use part number 10-02479. Additional charges will apply. You need to include both the tach part number, 10-24644, and any option parts numbers you would like in the same order.

Q: What is the range or max RPM on model D1-112-5122, which has an avg. cruise rpm of 2050?

The range on all models is 500 to 3500 RPM's.

Q: Can you set the time on the Michell tachs, particularly D1-112-5023? I want to put a new one in but my tach time is 4900 and not sure procedure.

Yes, tach time can be set. It must be requested at the time of order and there is an extra fee that will apply. Add part # 10-02479 to your order if you need the hours set (see options tab).

Q: The over view states that 2-1/4 Tachos are direct replacements for 3-1/2 units to save panel space. What are the part numbers of the 2-1/4 units?

Q: The picture of the Tach shows a green arc from 500 to 2700 and a red line at 2700. Is that part number D1-112-5024 comes if I do not have it altered with different markings?

No, no markings are included. Add part number 10-02354 for range markings.
