Q&A

Aircraft Spruce assumes no responsibility or liability for any issue or problem which may arise from any repair, modification or other work done from this knowledge base. Any product eligibility information provided here is based on general application guides and we recommend always referring to your specific aircraft parts manual, the parts manufacturer or consulting with a qualified mechanic.

Q: Open Center Channel (Part Number 05-01500): Can you please confirm that this item is in fact a 'Y' shaped rubber channel? The ordering page is confusing with its mention of #4 and #7 which seem to refer to the D shaped 90 degree tube.

Part number 05-01500 is a Y shaped rubber channel. 05-01700 is the D shaped material.

Q: Can you recommend a sealant to use with this channel for sealing to a windshield and to painted aluminum surface?

You can use some of the 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive P/N# 09-27200 or the Fast Tack Trim Adhesive would for you as well P/N# 09-27210.

Q: Is the #4 molding, part number 05-01500 the same that is used for the Vans RV-8 seal between the wing trim panel and the fuselage?

We do not know if this is the exact product Vans uses but this product is commonly used for this application by our customers.
