Overview

The Digital Magneto Timer allows mechanics to efficiently set Magneto Timing using digital accuracy.

It is compatible with virtually all horizontally opposed aircraft engines, especially Lycoming and Continental.

The Digital Magneto Timer improves upon existing legacy analog timing devices familiar to seasoned mechanics: the "Flower Pot" or "Tin Can."

These devices suffered from several drawbacks:
  • - The "Flower Pot" has a level of accuracy that is not up to the extremely important task of setting ignition timing. (no more tapping and hoping that it's working!!). The pendulums frequently become inaccurate due to friction.
  • - Frustration with rubber bands that are difficult to adapt to 3-blade props, long spinners, and quickly break.
  • - The need to remount the spinner at an inconvenient time during an inspection just so magneto timing can be performed.
  • - Aluminum construction that can scratch the spinner if not careful.

Installing On A Propeller

  • Universal design mounts on virtually any propeller in seconds without goofy bungee cords
  • No reconfiguring for 2-blade, 3-blade, fixed, constant speed, etc
  • Can be used with spinner on or off for convenience during other maintenance

Way better than trying to sight down the case halves, getting annoyed and taping a ruler on, or the flowerpot tapping and praying. You cant use the aluminum piston stop thats common, its too long for this system. Have to use the one that comes with this kit. Wish that was spelled out a little more clearly -- would have saved me some confusion. All in all, itll save you some time if checking Mag timing is something you do regularly. Wish Id gotten one sooner.
