PA-28-140. Replaced the original bulb with this and it looks great! No STC or 337 needed. It took all of a minute to place (my A/P didnt charge me for it!) Still would get a log entry though.

Purchased both the red and green Led position lamps and found them to be of very good quality. The machine work is first class, the fit as replacements for A7512 bulbs is perfect, light intensity is excellent, and current draw is minimal.

Simple drop in replacement on 14V system. I installed with clear lenses and they are very bright! Hope they last as long as one would think for LED’s! Time will tell

Brighter than expected and installation was as simple as swapping bulbs.

Love them. Effortless installation, zero radio noise/interference. I am much more confident in my ability to be seen. Whelen is the best!

Excellent plug and play product on our 66 PA-32. I wish every install were this easy. Only downside is the price - seems a bit much for what it is.

Nice, bright, low amperage light. I needed to obtain a clear cover to ensure its full brightness was available. The S35 Bonanza has colored lenses that limited the output.

These lights are fantastic! They are machined from aluminum and they are the brightest NAV lights I have ever seen. I tried some of the cheaper LED NAV lights from Spruce in both of my airplanes and they put out so much RF noise that they break the squelch on the radios. These Whelen Chroma bulbs didnt do that at all. Nice job Whelen!

Q: What is the current draw for 14 volt Whelen Chroma Position LED lamps?

For 14 volt lamps, they draw 0.30 amps at 14 VDC.

Q: Regarding Whelen Chroma LED Lamps: Do I need to use a clear lens, or the colored lens that are already used with the incandescent bulbs?

You can use the existing colored lenses.

Q: I have a 1989 Piper Warrior and I was wondering if these are just the LED Bulbs? Will they replace the bulbs that are currently installed without replacing the whole position wingtip light?

Yes, these are the bulbs only and are designed to be a "bulb only" replacement for the currently installed lights.

Q: I understand you can use the colored bulbs with the colored lens, but is it better to have a clear lens or is it better to use a colored lens? I have heard that green bulb/green lens may be a better combo.

Per Whelen they are designed to be used with the colored lens. You use the colored lens so that the TSO'd light assy is not modified in any way other than changing the bulb.

Q: How many lumens for the Whelen Chroma Position LED Lamps?

Whelen does not measure their output in lumens. They are 40 candella and are the same output as the w1290 bulbs they replace.

Q: Is the PART # 11-15019 a direct replacement for the A7512-12 bulb? The specs list the A7512-24 but don't specifically mention the A7512-12.

It will, you just need to select the color you need and the 14volt option.

Q: I have briefly looked around and did not see any reference to the post on the base of the Whelen Chroma bulbs. Are they directly opposing or are they offset?

These are off set.

Q: I have read that some LEDs produce RF interference, do these Whelen Chroma bulbs have any problems with radios?

Per Whelen: NO EMI / RFI interference, as Chroma bulbs are built using fixed current sources.

Q: Is there an LED replacement for W-1512?

We have a 5 watt version (11-11374) and a 4 watt version(11-11369.) They are for experimental use only.

Q: May I use the Whelen Chroma led position lights (Part# 11-15017/9) in my PA-38 Tomahawk to replace the normal ones? Piper p/n: 751 381 BULB - Navigation lights (1512).

Yes, that is a direct replacement.
