Easy repair for my previously 1/2 full compass. In my case the old gaskets came off easily. The instructions say to fill from the back (diaphragm side) submerging the compass body in fluid. Unless you have a perfectly sized, preferably square tank in which to submerge the compass (or make one), the kit will not have enough fluid for this method. Following a prior suggestion, I filled the unit from the front, setting the glass gently on top of the gasket and fluid in the filled body. Then gently screwed it together. This worked perfectly with no bubbles, and I had plenty of fluid from the kit due to virtually no waste this way. The instructions warn to install the glass in the same way as removed due to a bevel . There is a top and bottom for sure, but I could not find a bevel (suspect a red herring on that). However, I kept track of inside/outside and reassembled as it was with no issues. Nice to have a full compass again!

As advertised. Plenty of extra fluid. Some compasses has a filler plug on top I suggest replacing the o-ring on the plug (not in this kit-order separately) as my leak was from a perished o-ring.

Used this to replace a cracked glass in an unbranded compass. The glass was a little too wide but some careful grinding brought it down to size and now my compass holds fluid again.

Note: pay attention to the glass plate, it has a bevel on it that only goes one way. Ps. The instructions only tell you to put it back as it came off. Thanks. The cork gasket didn’t seem to fit well. I still have leaking from the front. Soap and water to clean the numbers and lubber line.

The kit was fine, but the instructions for getting all the bubbles out of the compass were not helpful. It was much more effective to slightly overfill the fill spout and rock the compass till all the bubbles worked their way out and screw in the plug.

Received delayed due to error in shipping

Reused old gasket, leaked with new one. cork one worked for outer side of glass, primarily why I bought. Double check model?
