|Direct Fuel Level Indicator, quality made of acrylic PVC tube with a paper scale. Calibrated to individual tanks, allow an accurate check of on board fuel level indicators and eliminate the guess work.|
I was using a 19.5 fuel gauge on my 172N with 20 gal tanks checked with the new gauge and there was a 3 (6)gallon difference. As with everybody I was taught not to trust the aircrafts fuel gauges so a 6 gallon difference is important.
The INSERT inside the PLASTIC tube moves, therefore, could be inaccurate. I will certainly pay more attention if I were to purchase a fuel level indicator again.
The indicator gauge has a white indicator strip, mounted internally. While the strip seems to aid in viewing the fuel level, it appears to make it difficult for the fuel to flow upward in the gauge. Fortunately, when I first tested it, the fuel tanks were full. So, I knew that I was getting a false reading. The previous gauge did not have that strip and did not have any problems with indicating fuel level.
No, none are specially calibrated for an exact model but are made to fit a range of a specific aircraft models like the Cessna 170 & 172.
This fuel level indicator is for 20 gallons total.
Unfortunately there is only 1 size of Fuel Stop available at the moment. It will not fit this tube.
