Overview

The major difference between aircraft and commercial cable is the lubrication applied to aircraft cable, which provides substantially better fatigue life than non-lubricated commercial cable. Aircraft cable requires extensive extra testing, documentation and certification to meet military specifications. We obtain our aircraft cable from domestic sources and the cable is certified to MIL-DTL-83420 and QPL Certified. Unit of measure is feet.

7 X 7 Flexible Control Cable
Has seven strands of seven wires each. Used for control purposes where extreme flexibility is not required but where abrasion is a factor.

7 X 19 Flexible Control Cable
Has seven strands of 19 wires each. Its greater metallic area makes it stronger than 7 X 7 cable. Because of its fine wires the best service is obtained where abrasion is not too severe. These same wires, however, make it flexible to meet severe bending.

1 X 19 Non-Flexible Cable
Is one strand of 19 wires. It has more metallic area than 7 x 7 or 7 x 19 constructions which makes it the strongest but also the least flexible. 1 x 19 is generally used for bracing purposes, drag and anti-drag wires. It is often used with swage type terminals.

Q: Is the price for control cable per foot? or per inch?

This control cable is priced and sold per foot.

Q: My questions are: - What does it mean ss and Galv - stainless steel and galvanic covering? - In which units strength measure?

Yes, SS stands for stainless steel and Galv stands for Galvanized. The strength units are lbs.

Q: What does pre-stretched mean for the control cables?

The regular cable will stretch some when tension is applied, but this cable has been pre-stretched for applications that require a closer tolerance, and the regular cable will not work.

Q: How many feet are in a roll of 05-04600 and 05-04500?

These part numbers are priced and sold per foot, not as a roll.

Q: Is the stainless steel control cable attracted by a magnet?

Yes, it is made of corrosion resistant steel per the specification, but it is magnetic.

Q: What is the longest continuous length of 05-06835 (1/16 1x19 galvanized) you can supply?

It can vary from 500 to 1000 feet.

Q: Are 05-03700, 05-4700, 05-4900 type I or type II? are jacketed or not?

05-03700, 05-04700, & 05-04900 are type 1, but do not have any cover, or jacket.

Q: Can I get some samples of 3/32 7X7 stainless steel cables?

We do not send sample material, however there is no minimum order so you can place an order for a very small amount to test with.

Q: I need an endless cable for my trim system. Do you make these up? Is there a limit on length?

We sell it by the foot. We do not make them to order, if you need a custom long length (ie over 500 feet), we recommend contacting our sales department for special order quote.

Q: Is there a nylon sleeve covering your control cable?

No this is just raw cable.
